I recently used a Day of Difference to volunteer at the Sydney Oxfam Trailwalker. The trailwalker gives participants three event options: 100km, 55km, or 27km over 40 hours. The Sydney event operates in the national parks in the north and takes the 'walkers’ through some spectacular scenery. My role was to support the crews setting up the event check-points which all participants need to stop at. The primary purpose of the trailwalker event is to raise money for Oxfam, with each participant raising a minimum of $500, which goes towards tackling the inequalities that keep vulnerable people living in poverty. Spending these days to help with such a worthy cause was a real privilege - thank you Civica for providing the opportunity and the time for me to do this and give something back.
