Civica supports army athletes to be on top of their game

19th January 2023

GovTech leader Civica has announced a new sporting partnership with the Royal Corps of Signals, the British Army’s specialists in IT, Cyber and Telecommunications.

The deal will directly support the development of the Royal Signals’ football and golfing teams, which include serving personnel, reservists and veterans. As part of the package, the Royal Signals’ football teams will benefit from state-of-the-art VEO technology, providing coaches with vital data and insights which can be used to demonstrate mistakes and improve player performance.

A leading provider of software across the public sector, both in the UK and globally, Civica has a close partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence and has delivered a number of key projects to drive digital transformation across the armed forces. These include:

  • Creating the Army’s Data Governance Office;
  • Establishing a Data Governance operating model
  • Implementing effective Data Quality Management; and,
  • Leading a Data Upskilling Programme in support of Project THEIA to define the data skills that are needed across Defence and ensure that targeted training is available to all who need it.

Executive Director (Central Government),

Whether on the battlefield or the playing field, high quality data is crucial to ensuring better, smarter decision-making and achieving ambitious goals.

We’re therefore delighted that our sponsorship of the Royal Corps of Signals will support the purchase of new VEO technology, helping players to spot mistakes, improve performance and be on top of their game.

Lt Col S M Smith,

Chairman of Royal Signals Football and Commanding Officer 30th Signal

We are delighted to welcome Civica to the Royal Signals Football family, provisioning much needed sponsorship at a significant moment in the development of our teams. The timely support has had an immediate impact, enabling the purchase a ‘state of the art’ VEO training suite, offering emerging technology to optimise the performances of both our players and coaches. The new system offers outstanding post-game analysis that has assured marginal gains which we believe will help take our male and female sides to ‘the next level’. The sponsorship will continue to drive our club forward and we hope this newly found relationship with Civica offers continued success now and into the future.

LT COL Robert Pace,

Royal Corps of Signals

Royal Signals golf are extremely grateful to CIVICA for their very kind sponsorship of the R SIGNALS Corps Golf team. This additional sponsorship is very important to the development, sustainment and success of our players within Army sport.  Without external sponsorship we would be unable to provide the opportunities to all our golfers. These opportunities are afforded to our regular and reserve forces and also we are able to include our veteran community in the league matches that we play throughout the UK.

This includes both male and female golfers and it remains our priority to encourage more serving females to participate in our sport. The breadth of our activity stems from grass roots golf right through to Army and Inter Service level golfers. We balance our activity between the development at grass roots through our meetings and matches and our better players go forward each year to the Army Championships and Inter Corps. It is at the latter that we aim to continue our previous years success and with the support of CIVICA we will be able select 14 players to go forward to these prestigious events in July.
